Have a Fishing Enthusiast on your Gift List?
Can Fishing Be a Gift?
Coming up with creative gift ideas can sometimes be a challenge, and when a lack of creativity takes hold, I urge others to consider a person’s hobbies and interests, even if that person is a child. Do you have a child that enjoys the outdoors on your gift list? Then, an awesome gift idea would be to take a fishing trip with them. You don’t have to be experienced angler to have fun at a nearby lake or pond. This makes a great gift idea for a boy or girl ages six through the teenage years.
Come On, You Can Do It!
Even if you are squeamish about worms, that should not stop you from enjoying a day fishing at the lake. You simply do not have to use them for bait. There are plenty of bait options that don’t involve worms, and you can find them at a live bait tackle shop in your area. You could use a product called PowerBait which is packaged in little jars.
If a live bait shop is not available in your area, then a can of whole kennel corn will work for trout fishing and carp. This gift idea involves a bit of planning, but the fun that lives ahead is really priceless.
Plan Properly and Have Fun
If you plan to be outside for a while, you should pack a cooler of drinks. Also, bring some snacks along to eat. Remember it is required by law that you do not litter, therefore, only leave your footprints behind at the end of the day. Do not feed the fish with any human food, other than if you’re using corn as bait.
As the mom of a daughter, I really didn’t anticipate my daughter would get excited about fishing. She didn’t until we were out shopping one day, and she saw a Barbie fishing rod. She was instantly interested. There are numerous popular children’s cartoon characters that make an appearance on fishing gear, and they make great gift ideas for the upcoming fishing trip your planning for a young child.
Enjoy your day outdoors and remember to apply sunscreen if it is sunny that day. Also, do not crowd the space of any other fishing anglers if the lake is very crowded. With a bit of planning and preparation, you and your child or niece or nephew can enjoy this wonderful gift idea.
