Give Bridal and Baby Shower Gifts that Dazzle
Getting Creative with Bridal and Baby Shower Gifts
It’s hard to make it through at least one year of adult life without getting invited to a baby or bridal shower. They’re a fact of life, and a pleasant one at that. But what if you’re looking to add a little creative touch to your presents and you don’t know what to start. Well, we’ve got just the tips and tricks for you to dazzle your gift recipient (and even the guests) with a stunning presentation.
Give a Cake
Ok, not a real cake. A paper cake! I have at least three different magazine clippings that I’ve collected over the years with instructions on how to make a paper cake and it’s actually pretty easy to make a paper cake.
You’ll need card stock, and you’ll have to make a triangular-shaped template. The card stock will hold up well to the folding. For baby showers you can alternate blue and pink pieces of “cake.” For a wedding shower, stick with white or cream. Embellish the outside of the cake with faux pearls, and tie a wide ribbon around the entire outside of the cake.
Slip in small trinkets appropriate for the occasion. For a baby shower, you can use booties and travel-sized baby lotion and cleanser to fill the pieces of cake.
Hang Your Laundry Out to Dry
This idea works great for both bridal and baby shower gifts. Get a matching set of laundry baskets in three different sizes. Fill the baskets with laundry essentials, such as high-quality lavender laundry detergent and fabric softener and bath towels in a complementary color.
Take one of the washcloths and secure it to the outside of the basket with old-fashioned clothespins. For a baby shower gift, you can fasten individual booties or baby socks all along the outside of the basket.
Decorative Boxes
Look for decorative boxes at stores such as A.C. Moore or Burlington Coat Factory. A trio of boxes in varying sizes can be used to hold an assortment of baby clothes in different sizes.
Most new moms get overwhelmed with clothing for infants up to age 3 months. Pick a range of sizes for the infant’s first year. You can usually get baby clothes at rock-bottom prices at end-of-season sales. Stock up when it’s on sale and set it aside for the next baby shower you’re invited to.
By keeping these baby shower gift ideas in mind, you'll be the star gift-giver at the next baby shower you're invited to.
