Get These Four Must-Have Grill Accessories
These grill accessories make grilling even easier
May is a perfect time to start looking for new grill accessories, with Memorial Day weekend ushering in the start of summer BBQ parties and get-togethers. If you live in year-round warm climate, your grill is probably primed and ready to go. If your environment is more seasonal, now's the time to put away the grill cover, clean off the racks, and marinate the meat. Now's also the time to buy one or more of these great grill accessories.
1. Talking thermometer with remote
Brookstone, the company known for cool gadgets, sells this meal-saving digital thermometer. Use it and untether yourself from the grill. Insert the probe into the meat, pick the meat type and doneness settings, and clip on the remote. Then go relax in the hammock or mingle with your party guests. When the meat is ready, the remote tells you. Simple and easy!
2. Grill light
New Jersey-based Maverick Industries makes several different well-rated grill lights that you can buy on Amazon.com. They make solar-powered, LED, and fluorescent cordless grill lights, and it's really a matter of personal preference which one to choose. The LED light has a typical life of 4-6 continuous hours, while the fluorescent has only 2-3 hours. The solar-powered light can shine up to four continuous hours after a full charge.
If you're really proud of the meat-grilling abilities, you'll want to autograph your creations. This monogrammed steak brand from Williams Sonoma lets you do just that--stamping your initials onto every piece of meat that comes off of your grill. It comes with a wooden wall-mount rack for storage. Choose from one, two, or three letters for your meat branding iron.
There are many cookbooks for grilling out there, but I have to tip my hat to this one, available from Weber. "Command of the Grill: A Salute to Steak" contains 29 recipes from winners and runners-up of a steak grilling competition. All competitors were Marines, and the book is a fundraiser that benefits four charities that support Marines and their families: The Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund, Wounded Warrior Project, Fisher House, and Marine Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation.
The book has some amazing steak recipes, and a very useful "Steak Boot Camp" section featuring advice from Weber grilling experts. Purchase the cookbook from Weber.com or participating hardware stores. Weber also pairs it with apparel--a nice Father's Day gift idea.
Wherever you live, if you love to grill, you'll love one or more of these four must-have grill accessories.
