Favorite Halloween Treats for This Year's Trick or Treaters
Have You Bought Your Halloween Treats This Year?
If you haven't yet bought your Halloween treats this year, you're running out of time. October 31 is right around the corner and I've heard of more than a few neighborhoods that are actually doing trick or treating this weekend, on the 26th. What treats will make you the hottest house on the Halloween block? Here are a few last-minute ideas.
Run Through the Drive Through
Burger King and McDonald's both offer coupon books that allow trick or treaters to redeem coupons for snacks like cookies or fries. Sure, fast food may not be healthy but what kid doesn't like the occasional unhealthy treat?
Spooky-Themed Candy
Eyeballs, worms, mummies and bats - there are tons of Halloween themed candy treats available at the grocery stores this time of year. Each year we buy gummy eyeballs and put it in the candy bowl and they're the first to go each and every time.
A Healthier Approach
If you don't like the idea of handing out fast food coupons or sugary sweets, you might want to consider healthier alternatives. Granola bars or Cliff Kidz bars are a great way to hand out treats without rotting a kids teeth (or increasing childhood cholesterol).
Stickers and Pencils
If you'd like, you can avoid handing out edible treats altogether this year. Head out to your local part supply store and stock up on stickers and novelty pencils. Kids love them and they're definitely a change of pace from the Snickers bars and M&Ms most of the neighbors will be handing out.
So get to it! There's very little time to spare. Head out to the store and get your Halloween treats today, before they run out and your house gets on the "to egg" list.
