Dog Gifts: Give Your Dog a Bone
Dog Bones Make Excellent Dog Gifts
All year long we buy presents for the people around us. Christmas, Easter, Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, birthdays -- the list goes on. While we’re all spending freely on gifts for family and friends, how many of us splurge and buy dog gifts for Fifi or Fido? Don’t our canine companions deserve gifts too? If it’s been a while since you pampered your pet, a dog bone may be just what your pooch needs. However, not all dog bones are created equal. Here’s a list of the dog bones that make great dog gifts and the dog bones that don’t.
Booda Velvet Bones
I am a huge fan of the dog bones made by Booda and when it comes to giving dog gifts, these bones always have my vote. Unlike some of the other dog bones on the market, Booda Velvet bones are made with natural ingredients like cornstarch, they don’t contain any preservatives or animal byproducts and they resist cracking and splintering. In addition to enjoying them and having fun, dogs that get Booda Velvet dog bones as dog gifts get the added benefit of the dental care these bones provide.
Nylabone Galileo
For dogs who chews through every toy and bone in a matter of minutes, Nylabone Galileos make excellent dog gifts. These dog bones are made from durable nylon and are flavored with real meat juices. Dogs enjoy chewing on them (so they won’t be chewing on stuff they shouldn’t) and it’ll take them some time to wear these suckers down.
Natural Cow Bones
Every dog loves to get a natural bone with a bit of meat on it. You can get these dog bones from local butchers or at grocery stores and they make great dog gifts. Just be sure the dog getting the bone is under supervision when chewing it since natural bones have the possibility of splintering, which could be dangerous to a dog.
Rawhide Dog Bones
Okay, I personally wouldn’t give a dog a rawhide bone, but there are people who swear that rawhide can be safe if you buy the right kind. If you do want to give rawhide as a dog gift, make sure the rawhide is made in the U.S.A. (rawhide from other countries has been found to contain arsenic) and make sure the quality is good and always keep the dog under supervision when the rawhide bone is being chewed.
