It's the new millennium and we're a very different race than we were 10 years ago. That's probably why personal robot make such great gifts nowadays. Wondering what I'm talking about? Then you probably don't realize just how many useful personal robots are on the market now. If you're all about making your gift recipient's life easier, these personal robots are just what you want to give.
Roomba
I personally received a Roomba as a gift and laughed when I read the box. Then, after using it a few times, my opinion about personal robots changed and I became a die-hard believer in giving personal robots as gifts.
So what exactly is a Roomba? It's a personal robot that vacuums your home for you. Sure, your gift recipient is still going to have to vacuum with a real vacuum every so often, but a Roomba can give their home that just-vacuumed look 7 days a week.
Scooba
Scooba is a personal robot that will make a great gift for those with hard-surface floors. The Scooba does for tile and laminate what the Roomba personal robots do for carpet. They'll wash floors while you're off doing something more interesting (although, I will admit, watching them work may be entertainment itself -- especially if you have pets).
I Que
Does your gift recipient constantly forget appointments or meetings? Then they need an I Que. I Que personal robots take PDAs to the next level. This one will actually follow you around your home verbally reminding you of appointments and important meetings you don't want to miss.

Okay, this one isn't even released yet and in the next few days I'll be devoting an entire post to this particular personal robot, but let's just say it'll be the best $300 gift you've ever given. Spykee will let your friends watch their homes via a computer while they're away and is something like a best friend/surveillance camera/mp3 speaker system built into one of the most interesting personal robots to ever hit the market.
Like I said, the personal robots of today are nothing like the ones we've seen before. If you haven't put personal robots on your list of gifts to give, maybe now's the time.
